This week, Arcade covers the biggest E3 showcases, kicking off with Ubisoft’s Forward conference. With major showings like a new Rainbow Six and the first trailer for the upcoming Avatar game, there were certainly things to be excited for. There were some omissions, like the elusive Beyond Good and Evil 2, though, that held the show back a bit. Square Enix was in a similar position, showing the Guardians of the Galaxy game and a new Final Fantasy.

Xbox leaned pretty heavily into trailers rather than gameplay, but there were still some major games that made appearances. Starfield, Redfall, Halo Infinite, Battlefield 2042, and Stalker 2 are some of the highlights, but it was one of the best showings of all of E3. Xbox is making a habit of announcing games but not showing them, though, and that is a bit troubling.

Nintendo also had some big games to show off, though the highlight was certainly Breath of the Wild 2 for the bulk of the company’s fans. The new gameplay has raised more questions than its given answers, but it’s looking like it’s one of the most anticipated games of 2022. Notably, the Nintendo Switch Pro wasn’t featured at the show, which has raised some questions about the rumored hardware overhaul.
