Naughty Dog certainly has a funny notion of what is realistic, but it’s doubtful too many gamers will care so long as the action is fun. To be fair, the sequence aboard the plane is slightly more realistic than the flight sequence shown in the newest Saints Row 3 trailer. Still, Drake shows again that he must have the strongest hands in the known universe.
What will be interesting to see is how Naughty Dog’s introduction of stereoscopic 3D to the Uncharted series will fare, especially with intense action sequences such as the one shown in the video. The developer is on the record that its 3D features will be so impressive that Uncharted 3 will sell 3D TVs. While we always appreciate it when developers try to bring a new experience to the table, 3D integration in an action-packed title like Uncharted 3 may be mind-blowing for all the wrong reasons. In our experience with 3D gaming, we have found that the effect can be impressive at times, but may also cause eye fatigue and headaches during long play sessions. Not to mention, 3D gaming on the consoles can cause a frame rate hit.
Let us know what you think about the newest trailer and whether you plan to take on Drake’s enemies in 3D.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will be releasing exclusively for the PlayStation 3 on November 1, 2011.
