Both companies have recently issued statements that express their happiness with Microsoft’s decision to lift any restrictions for used or rented games off of their next-gen console. GameFly co-founder and SVP of business development and content Sean Spector had this to say regarding the recent turn of events: Spector had apparently been in talks with Microsoft in order to work out some sort of middle ground so that GameFly could continue to thrive in the next-gen, but now it would seem all those negotiations were for naught....

It seems like anything Apple touches turns to gold making it no wonder that GameStop couldn’t wait to get their hands on some iOS devices. 9to5mac has several sources informing them that an announcement was made at a Las Vegas trade show that GameStop will begin selling Apple’s iOS devices including the iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone in their stores. As of this week GameStop has also began accepting used iOS device trade-ins for store credit....

GameStop initially remained open during the coronavirus pandemic, citing itself as an essential business. The move resulted in a tsunami of negative feedback from numerous corners of the internet, with many citing the move as greedy and ignorant, among many other things. In the announcement, GameStop revealed that it will be re-opening stores in “Italy, Germany, Austria and the states of South Carolina and Georgia,” but stated that it was also preparing to potentially re-open in other countries and states in the near future....

Petito was reported missing at the beginning of September after her parents failed to hear from her for several days. She’d been on a cross-country trip with Laundrie and was documenting their travels on social media, prompting national interest in her disappearance, and while officials were searching for her, Laundrie’s parents informed law enforcement they hadn’t seen their son for days. Officials have yet to locate Laundrie, sparking speculation that he may never be found, but Gabby’s parents are convinced he was involved in her death in some way and want him brought to justice....

Over the past two weeks we had been reporting, and speculating, that Apple CEO Tim Cook was meeting with prolific developer Valve to discuss some sort of video game related partnership. Reports of an Apple game console suggested that the meeting might have involved incorporating Valve software like Steamworks into the project, but apparently we had it all wrong. Prior to The Game Awards 2022 date being announced, what’s alleged to be an internal document from Activision Blizzard leaked online. It was then shared on Reddit and picked up by Charlie Intel, which tweeted a screenshot that essentially shows Activision’s road map for the rest of the year. The leak claimed that The Game Awards 2022 would take place on December 8 and feature Diablo 4, and while it remains to be seen if Diablo 4 will be at the show, we now know the leaked date was accurate....

Going in, games like Bethesda’s Rage and Disney’s Epic Mickey hoarded a lot of nominations, and Electronic Arts led the way in terms of publisher nods. I recognize that game developers face many challenges in their work, and completing a high-quality game before a release date is one of those challenges. But the problem lies in setting a release date before a game is completed, or even close to completion. Doing so has the potential to create one of two major issues for gamers. First, a developer may rush to release a game on time, but at the expense of launching a broken game....

Entitled The Ice Dragon, the sixth episode aims to bring most plotlines to a close, whilst still setting things in place for a potential second season. Each of the HBO voice cast make an appearance in the end-of-episode season recap, which lets players examine their choices against what other players have done. In a game where such large emphasis is placed on choice, however, we couldn’t help but feel that Game of Thrones could have done more to create a satisfying conclusion....

Kicking things off, PlayStation revealed the PSVR2, though it might take some convincing to get more gamers involved with it. The headset sounds promising, though it’s unclear if it solves the biggest complaints that fans had about the original. Namely, the first iteration had lots of cables and an extra box to plug in, which is part of why it didn’t have much of an impact. Then we moved on to the fun stuff: the Gears of War 3 tournament. Involving 8 teams, in a best 2 out of 3 elimination format, across three different maps with Rod Fergusson announcing and live-broadcasting - the game was on. Our 5-man team included myself, Rob Keyes, along with Game Rant writers Riley Little, John Jacques, Ryan Blanchard and our weekly Corrupted Saves comic artist, Zac Landry. The rules were simple: Team Death Match, 10 respawns, 5v5 and best 2 of 3 wins the round and moves on....
